Great Sand Dunes National Monument is located near Alamosa in central southern Colorado. This view looking south was taken in October after a storm passed through which created the sand patterns. The snow clad peak off in the distance is Blanca Peak 14,345 feet in elevation in the Sangre De Cristo Range. Photograph made with a Hasselblad Camera on Kodak Ektachrome 100 film.
